Hubert Seward ‘Pete’ Lehr
Hubert Seward “Pete” Lehr, age 84, of Johnstown, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2018 at the Fulton Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare.
Born February 4, 1934 in Rutland, Vermont, he was the son of the late Robert, Sr. and Alice Seward Lehr.
He was in the Army and proud to serve his country. Hubert worked at various jobs; carpenter work for Manzer Construction, a skin mill and General Electric in Schenectady, retiring after 28 years. He did carpenter work for friends and his family and many times on his own home.
He enjoyed building crafts out of wood, working on fixing radios and old motors, going on trips, eating out and going to the casinos.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Shirley Squires Lehr; sons Brian Lehr (Paula) of Rotterdam, Randy (Carmen) of Amsterdam, Kevin (Donna Wilder) of Gloversville and Shawn of Johnstown, brother Chuck of Missouri; grandchildren Tyler, Sarah, Nichole Lehr and Lacey Lehr Allen, Christopher, Kaitlynn Lehr; great granddaugthers Aydan Allen and adorable little 4-month-old Shey Love that lives in Ohio which he got to hold one time; several nieces and nephews.
Hubert was predeceased by brothers Howard, Francis and Robert, Jr.; sisters Betty Christman, Beverly Nellis.
Cremation was at Vale Crematory, Schenectady.
There will be no calling hours or funeral at the request of Hubert.
There will be a private service at the convenience of the family at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice or to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 N. Beauregard Street, Alexandria, VA 22311.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, Inc., 215 E. Main Street, Johnstown.
