Frank A. Ahrens

Frank A. Ahrens, age 89, of Sprakers, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2018, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on August 23, 1928, in Astoria, Queens, a son of the late Edward A. and Helen McCarthy Ahrens.

Mr. Ahrens honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed for many years at Coddington’s Lumber in Randall. Frank later worked at the Johnstown Knitting Mill and lastly at ADI in Glen. Mr. Ahrens was a member of the Johnstown Moose.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley J. Davis Ahrens, whom he married on August 18, 1956; four children, Randy A. Ahrens of Chiefland, Florida, Christine Warner (Roger) of Caroga Lake, Brian Ahrens of Sprakers and Lisa Ahrens of Johnstown; one brother, Gary Ahrens (Mandy) of Chiefland, Florida; ten grandchildren, Randy S. Ahrens, Ryan Ahrens, Brandon Ahrens, Kimberly Roblee, Roger Warner Jr., Amanda Warner, Jodi Bronk, Amy Ahrens, Breanne Ahrens and Devon Ahrens; eight great-grandchildren, Andrew Ahrens, Hunter Ahrens, Randy Scott Jr., Paisley Ahrens, Merissa Ahrens, Baylee Cooper, Arianna Hall and Easton Miller; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Frank was predeceased by his two brothers, Edward J. Ahrens and Robert Ahrens; and one grandson, Zachary Holmes.

Funeral services will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2018, at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 E. Main Street, Johnstown, with the Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams officiating.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, March 1, prior to the service from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Spring interment will be in Broadalbin-Mayfield Cemetery, Broadalbin.
