Walter E. Bradt

Walter E. Bradt, age 91, of Johnstown, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at the Mountain Valley Hospice House, Gloversville.

He was born on July 11, 1926 in Johnstown, a son of the late Elden Bradt and Dorothy Stahl Bradt.

Walter was a graduate of Johnstown High School and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a leather worker for several years at Karg Brothers Tannery. Mr. Bradt loved playing games, poker, going to the casinos, traveling and visiting Las Vegas. Walter enjoyed playing cards at the local senior centers and also hunting and fishing in his younger years.

He is survived by his two sons Lee (Kathryn) Bradt of Gloversville and Larry Bradt of Johnstown; four sisters Phylis Putman of Fonda, Noreen Frank of Fonda, Margie Howe of Potsdam and Ester Hansen of Johnstown; four grandchildren Lindy Delong, Larissa Bradt, Lindsay Trumball and Laken Tychostop; four great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Walter was predeceased by his wife of 50 years Ruth Jarabek Bradt who passed in 2002, whom he loved dearly and never let go. He was also predeceased by his two brothers Robert Bradt and Donald Bradt, one sister MaryEllen Tuttle and stepmother Hazel Bradt.

There will be no calling hours or funeral services.

A graveside service will be conducted in the Spring at Evegreen Cemetery, Fonda.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, Inc., 215 E. Main Street, Johnstown.
