Mary L. Bellinger
Mary L. Bellinger, 89, of Petoff Garden Apartments, Gloversville, died Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at St. Mary’s Healthcare, Amsterdam with her loving family at her side.
She was born in Johnstown on June 10, 1928, a daughter of Bernhard and Frances Duesler Volpp and was a 1946 graduate of Johnstown High School. Mary was a lifelong area resident. She lived in Broadalbin for several years before moving to Petoff Gardens.
Mrs. Bellinger was employed as a secretary at the former Lowenstein’s Leather Company in Johnstown.
She was a member of the Broadalbin Baptist Church.
Mary enjoyed knitting and crocheting, camping, reading, and going to beaches. She loved traveling with her husband to Cape Cod and New Hampshire, and enjoyed making wonderful memories.
Survivors include her husband, Frank W. Bellinger, whom she married on September 4, 1949; two daughters, Terry Herrnkind of Gloversville and Kimberly (David) Moses of Tampico, IL; two grandchildren, Kristen Green and Ryan Herrnkind; two great-grandchildren, Devin and Brian Green; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cremation was performed at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. A calling hour will be held on Saturday from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., 111 County Highway 106 (corner of Route 29 and Black Street), Johnstown. A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. David Deuel, officiating. Final burial will be in the spring at Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda.
Mary’s family would like to thank Dr. Emily Etzkorn for her kindness and loving care for Mary, the PCU nurses at St. Mary’s Healthcare, and the staff at the Wilkinson RHCF for the compassionate care of Mary. A special thanks to Mary’s friend who was a special part of the family, Diane Banta.
