Alton “Butch” Poyfair
Alton “Butch” Poyfair, age 67, of Mayfield, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2017, at his residence.
He was born on August 18, 1950, in Amsterdam, a son of the late Alton Blanchard and Ilene Cook.
Mr. Poyfair worked for many years in the leather mill of F. Rulison & Sons in Johnstown. Butch also was employed as a truck driver. He also served his country in the Army National Guard and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte “Bonnie” Ashley Poyfair, whom he married on January 3, 1969; one son, Kevin Poyfair of Mayfield; one daughter, Kimberly Halliday (Stephen) of Fultonville; brothers, Gary Blanchard, Bobby Blanchard, Terry Blanchard and many other siblings; five grandchildren, Carly, Joshua, Tyler, Michael and Brady; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, December 4, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, 215 East Main Street, Johnstown.
Immediately following the memorial visitation, a gathering will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Gloversville Moose Club, 140 E. State Street, Gloversville.
Cremation was at Vale Crematory, Schenectady.
