Carmella Rose D’Errico, 92, of Gloversville, died peacefully Sunday morning, November 12, 2017, at Mountain Valley Hospice in Gloversville, NY surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 7, 1925, in Gloversville to Pietro “Peter” and Ermelinda Raso. Carmella married Vito “Peter” D’Errico on September 15, 1946, and spent 71 wonderful years together.

Carmella was a lifelong resident of Gloversville. She graduated from Gloversville High School in 1943 and began working as a glover maker soon after.

Carmella will be remembered for always smiling, her patience, kindness and compassion for others, and the love of her family surrounding her and Peter. Her family meant everything to her. Carmella’s happiest times were when everyone was together celebrating special occasions or just spending time together as a family. She showed her love in many ways. Carmella enjoyed making pizza, chicken soup and traditional Italian holiday desserts. She also enjoyed golfing with her Vrooman’s Ladies League friends and weekly coffee at Stewart’s. Carmella and Peter enjoyed many winters in Florida spending time with family. She will be greatly missed by everyone.

Carmella is survived by her husband Peter; and four daughters, Carmella (Tim) Best of Caroga Lake, Emily (Brian) Jennings of Gloversville, Mary Jane D’Errico (Jim Izzo) of Gloversville and Teresa (George) Bevington of Johnstown; her grandchildren, Kristine Orr (Scott Jacques), Peter (Megan) Orr, Tricia (Matt) Hillock, Jennifer Generoso, Brianne (Bobby) Loviza, Derrick (Nikki) Bevington, Jared (Katie) Bevington, Travis Bevington; great-grandchildren, Makenna Orr, Colton Hillock, Maia and Nick Generoso, Isabella and Olivia Loviza, Grayson and Jocelyn Bevington, Kellen Bevington, Gracie and Matthew Izzo; her sister, Jane Martorelli of Gloversville; also surviving are in-laws and several nieces and nephews.

Carmella was predeceased by her parents; sister, Josephine Caporossi; great-grandson, Gavin Bevington; and grandson-in-law Vincent Generoso.

Per Carmella’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. Friends of Carmella are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial which will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at the Church of the Holy Spirit. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Tribute Program, P.O.
