Robert H. Hawley
Robert H. Hawley, aged 89, passed peacefully Sunday, August 6, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. Born July 15, 1928, and raised in Gloversville, N.Y. Robert served brief tours in the Marines and Merchant Marine. Later he returned to Gloversville, served with the Gloversville Police Department, and met the love of his life, Marianne. They were married on February 27, 1956.
Robert became a father with the birth of his children, Michael and Nadine. He has anchored a strong family ever since. After ending his public service, Robert moved to Maryland and worked as a security guard. He raised his family in Maryland and always enjoyed the simple pleasures of family life.
Robert was a modern renaissance man who taught himself German and Italian in order to more fully enjoy his love of Opera. He was also an avid marksman, a lover of thoroughbreds, a history buff, a witty writer, a voracious reader, a devoted pet owner, a dedicated runner, a film connoisseur, a shrewd bargain hunter, a loyal football fan, a great friend, an amazing grandpa, a thoughtful gift giver and the picture of health for 89 years. Robert always defended what he thought was right and never lacked a sharp witty response. He showed what was important in life by the way he lived.
Robert is sorely missed by his loving wife and children, extended family (especially James and Loretta Hawley), a wide circle of adoring grandchildren and numerous friends. A celebration of life will be held in September. Contact Nadine (Hawley) Blusiewicz at firstname.lastname@example.org for further details.
