David Paul VanNostrand

Mr. VanNostrand

David Paul VanNostrand, 63, of Mayfield, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2017, with his loved ones by his side.

David was born on January 21, 1954, in Gloversville to Dean and Katherine VanNostrand. He was a lifelong resident of Mayfield, NY. He attended Mayfield High School. He married his sweetheart, Sheila, on August 8, 1987. They shared 29 loving years together.

David worked as an equipment and crane operator for Steven Miller General Contractors for 39 years, serving as one of the company’s most tenured employees. He was a dedicated hard worker.

He enjoyed fixing things, from cars to trucks and everything in-between, a true jack of all trades. His family was his pride and joy and his eyes lit up when one of his grandchildren called out for their Papa.

He was the kindest, most gentle, sincere and loving man. He took pride in providing for his family and helping others. He would drop anything to help a friend or family member who needed him. He loved waking up early and heading to the local Stewart’s for a coffee or riding in his old street rod cars. David loved life, was always smiling and happy.

He was predeceased by his father, Dean VanNostrand; and father-in-law, Henry Edwards Sr.

David is survived by his loving wife Sheila; children, Misty Ellis (John) of Florida, Mark VanNostrand (Bea) of Schoharie, Nicole Jandik (Eddie) of Mayfield and Katy Brower (Josh) of Mayfield; mother, Katherine VanNostrand of Mayfield; grandchildren, Zach, Caleb, Conor, Crimsin, Chloe, Brooklynn and his little buddy Eddie; siblings, Dean (Bethany) VanNostrand of Edinburg, Denny (Libby) VanNostrand of Mayfield, Dawn (Bob) Bruse of Northville, Rich (Judy) VanNostrand of Johnstown, Doug (Nancy) VanNostrand of Edinburg.
