Ronald H. Keator

Ronald H. Keator, 86, a resident of Palatine Nursing Home, Palatine Bridge, NY (formerly of Gloversville) passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2016, after a short illness.

Ron was the born on April 5, 1930, the son of the late Harry and Edna Chambers Keator. He proudly served with the United States Army from 1951-1953. Ron was married to the late Marie S. Scarella; they celebrated 37 years of marriage until her passing in 1992. Ron and Marie owned New Process Cleaners in Johnstown, NY. He retired in 1994 after many years of service with the Fulton County Credit Union, working in maintenance.

Ron will be remembered for his devotion to his daughters and grandson. He loved being with his family and friends, animals, gardening, fishing and the family camp on Peck’s Lake. Many memories were made at the camp. Ron was also a member of the Johnstown Moose.

The family would like to thank the nurses, CNSs and staff at Palatine Nursing Home for the wonderful care and friendship to their dad. Special thanks to Cindi Borchert for being his partner in crime at Palatine.

Ron is survived by his daughters, Kimberly (Karl) Gustafson of Canajoharie, NY and Stephanie (Marty) Karabin of Mechanicville, NY; and his grandson Karl Jr.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2016, from 5 to 7 p.m. and Friday, May 20, 10 to 11 a.m. at the Amico Funeral Home, 150 South Main Street, Gloversville. A funeral service will take place on Friday, May 20, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown, NY.

Memorial contributions made be made to the Ayers Memorial Animal Shelter, 133 Hilltop Road, Sprakers, NY 12166, in memory of Ron for his love of animals.
