James H. ‘Mouse’ Longfritz

James H. “Mouse” Longfritz, age 74, of Johnstown, passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2016, at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown.

He was born on November 14, 1941, in Gloversville, a son of the late Luther and Beatrice Bown Longfritz.

James was a graduate of Johnstown High School and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed for several years as a store manager of Central Market in Johnstown. Mr. Longfritz was part owner of Jim and Bill’s Beverage in Johnstown and also the Mousetrap in Broadalbin.

Mr. Longfritz is survived by his son, James A. Longfritz of Johnstown; former wife, Cheryl Burton Steeves of Johnstown; three grandchildren, Joshua Longfritz, Frank Charles (Christine) and Ashley Charles King (Andrew); six nieces and nephews, Michael Longfritz, David Longfritz, Kelly Pizzola, Michael Malatino (Mimi), Deborah Malatino Brooks and Dominic J. Malatino; sister-in-law, Joan Longfritz; and brother-in-law, Dominic P. Malatino.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, William D. Longfritz; and two sisters, Joyce Longfritz and Lois M. Longfritz Malatino.

Calling hours will be on Thursday, May 5, 2016, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, 1 N. Melcher Street, Johnstown.

A celebration of life gathering for “Mouse” will be at the Holiday Inn, 308 N. Comrie Avenue, Johnstown immediately following the calling hours.

Private interment with military honors will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
