Claire Etta Gardner
Claire Etta Gardner, 78, of County Highway 138, Broadalbin, died Tuesday morning, May 17, 2016, at the Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility.
She was born on April 24, 1938, in Houlton, ME, a daughter of Clayton and Ena Monteith Little and moved to Philmont, New York at age 14. Claire lived in Broadalbin for the past 13 years.
She was employed in environmental services at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Maryland for 10 years. Later, Claire worked part time at the Broadalbin-Perth School District, where she was affectionately known as “Nanny Claire.”
Claire was a hard and diligent worker. She had a strong work ethic and was always proud of her work.
Survivors include a son, Richard (Sylvia) Snow of Broadalbin; three daughters, Gail Curley (Dale Trujillo) of Aurora, Colo., Rhonda (Joseph) Snow-Myers of Averill Park, and Veronica (Joseph) Pasquarella of Altamont; three brothers; seven sisters; nine grandchildren, Allyssa, Christopher, Evan, Meridi, Neil, Cory, Kyle, Emily, and Julianna; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cremation was performed at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. A calling hour will be held on Sunday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., 111 County Highway 106, (corner of Route 29 and Black Street), Johnstown followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. led by Certified Lay Speaker Joyce Royal. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to BVAC, both in care of the funeral home.
