Patricia B. Carsky

Patricia B. Carsky, formerly of Syracuse, N.Y., had been a resident of Naples, Fla., and Skaneateles, N.Y. She was born June 15, 1930, in Johnstown, N.Y., the daughter of the late Harold and Julia (Johnson) Bosworth.

Pat engaged fully with friends, family and the world around her. She greeted all she met with her contagious smile, giving heart and wit. She was an avid “birder” and awaited the annual migration of her favorite hummingbirds with anticipation each May at her home on “the lake.” She thoroughly enjoyed her garden, which she cultivated and nurtured thoughtfully and with great care.

A graduate of Oneonta College, Pat taught elementary school until the birth of her first child. Pat was active in the Keytones and Split Rockettes singing groups and Happy Couples and other social groups, and she was co-chair of St. Thomas More Charity Dance. Pat never lost her appreciation for those from humble beginnings and for those in need. She delivered food to the homebound, painted walls for Habitat for Humanity and taught English to young Spanish-speaking children in Florida elementary schools. Pat loved to sing, dance, teach and most of all, she loved the companionship of her loving husband of 62 years, Dr. Edward Carsky.

In addition to her husband, Dr. Edward Carsky, survivors include her beloved children, Elaine (Matthew) Medwid of Skaneateles, N.Y., Cecily (John) Miller of Durham, N.H., Edward (Leslie) Carsky of Asheville, N.C., William (Jacqueline) Carsky of Ontario, N.Y.; and daughter-in-law; Rebecca Khelseau-Carsky of Cotonou, Benin. She was lovingly known as “Nanie” by her 16 grandchildren, Matt, Josh, Jasmine, Havely, Sheila, Amado, Forest, Katie, Devon, Will, Logan, Daniel, Alec, Julien, Jack and Stormy, and her six great-grandchildren. She also is survived by her niece, Mary Ann Bosworth of Albuquerque, and nephew, David Bosworth of Johnstown. She was predeceased by her son, Robert Carsky, and her brother, Harold “Bozzie” Bosworth. Pat’s love and care shaped the lives of her family.

The funeral service will be held December 5 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s of the Lake in Skaneateles, N.Y., followed by a bereavement reception at the church hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Dr. Robert Carsky Scholarship Fund at the St. Joseph’s College of Nursing at 206 Prospect Ave., Syracuse, N.Y. 13203.
