Mary A. Quillan
Mary A. Quillan, 90, of Ballston Spa, passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2015, at Ellis Hospital after a short illness. Born in Brooklyn, NY on April 9, 1925, she was the daughter of Peter and Tessie Malacynski.
Mary was a seamstress working at a dress factory in Brooklyn and during World War II she worked at the Mohawk Carpet Mills. After moving to Ballston Spa, she cooked at the Ballston Spa Central Schools for 14 years, retiring in 1985. She loved to cook and bake. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Burton; and her siblings, Pauline Cuipryk, Joe Malacynski, Martin Malacynski, Stanley Malacynski and Charlie Malacynski.
Mary is survived by her children, Patrick Quillan of Ballston Spa and Karen Robinson and her husband Jerry of Saratoga Springs; grandson, Devin Robinson; sister, Jennie Malacynski; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 9:30 a.m. Monday, November 30, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in St. Basil’s Cemetery, Broadalbin. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, November 29, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Armer Funeral Home Inc., 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa.
