Susan Tofinchio

Susan Tofinchio, 95, of Gloversville, NY, passed away, Monday, October 5, 2015, at Mountain Valley Hospice after a short illness. Sue passed away on her late husband Chuck’s birthday, and we know he was waiting for her, and she danced into his arms. Sue was born in Italy on August 30, 1920, to the late Michael and Christian Pallotta. She came to America with her family at the age of 5 and they settled in Amsterdam, NY. Sue met her beloved Julius “Chuck” Tofinchio, and they were wed on May 2, 1948. They celebrated 64 years of marriage until his passing in 2012. Sue retired from Grandoe Glove Company in 1985.

Sue will be warmly remembered for her love of family, sharing stories about her Joe and Gary, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Sue and Chuck were always dancing, and enjoyed many years of bus trips going to Wild Wood, NJ. She was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit, Sisters of the Holy Spirit, former Ladies of Charity, church choir, Catholic War Veterans Women’s Auxiliary, 55 Plus Seniors and the Johnstown Moose.

Sue is survived by her sons, Gary (Mary) and Joseph; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jay), Jacqueline, Jessica, Jillian, Justin and Christopher; five great-grandchildren; her siblings, Joseph, Nicholas, Anthony Pallotta and Angie DePasquale; also several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Catherine Todd.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday, October 7, 2015, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Amico Funeral Home, 150 South Main Street, Gloversville. A prayer service will be held Thursday, October 8, in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial 10 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit. Internment will be held in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Holy Spirit, 149 South Main Street, Gloversville, NY 12078.
