Denise K. Childs Orey

Denise K. Childs Orey, 60, of Ormond Beach, Florida, passed away on June 3, 2015, after a battle with cancer. She was born in Gloversville, New York on May 13, 1955, the daughter of the late James and Shirley Fear Childs.

Denise lived in many places throughout the United States and attended colleges throughout those states as well. She earned her master’s degree in social work from the Virginia Commonwealth University. She and her husband, Rick Orey, lived in Hawaii for over 22 years, where she worked for the Department of Social Services, before they moved to Florida. Denise lived her life as a caregiver, helping people and giving wherever she saw someone in need. She enjoyed shopping and was always creating something special with arts and crafts. Denise was also passionate about her chocolate.

She was predeceased by her husband, Rick; brother, Daniel Childs; as well as her parents.

Survivors include siblings, Timothy Childs (Ellen) of Delmar, Kathleen Childs (Teresa Wands) of Mayfield, Sean Childs of Johnstown, Erin McManus (Martin) of Gloversville, and Tracy Childs of Gloversville. She is also survived by her nephews, Daniel, Nick, Adam and Andrew; and nieces, Kimberly and Loren. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Mele.
