∫ Meet the Artists opening reception — 2018 Winter Art Show: Paul Nigra Center for Creative Arts, 2736 Route 30, Gloversville, 6 to 8 p.m. An exhibit of artwork by local and regional artists. Admission is free. Light refreshments will be served. The show runs to April 4.
∫ Sacandaga Valley Arts Network Artists’ Gallery Fall Exhibit: Fulton County Visitor Center, Routes 29 and 30, Vail Mills. Free and open to the public. Gallery is open weekends.
∫ Larry VanAlstyne, photographer and sculptor: Micropolis Cooperative Art Gallery, 30 N. Main St., Gloversville. Micropolis member artists work will include paintings, drawings, photographs, fiber art, batik, mixed media, woodwork, glass, digital art, sculpture, jewelry and pottery. The gallery, inside Mohawk Harvest, is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday; from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. The show will run through February. ∫ Through the lens photography group artwork: Frothingham Free Library, 28 W. Main St., Fonda. The group, created through the Liberty Through the Arts Program, will be on display during the library hours through January.
∫ Barn Stories: Reflections from a Saratoga County Horse Farm, by Galway resident, Mary Cuffe Perez, will be appearing at a reading and signing at Northshire Books, Broadway, Saratoga Springs, 7 p.m. The book is a collection of stories drawn from the author’s 15 years managing a horse boarding business in Galway.
∫ Alyssa Sardelli benefit: Johnstown Moose, Comrie Avenue, Johnstown, 1 to 6 p.m. $20 per person or $30 per couple; free for children ages 5 and under. The event includes raffles, 50-50, food and more.
∫ Empty Pockets — disaster relief benefit: St. John’s-St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Canajoharie, 2 to 4 p.m. $5 admission. The coffee house event includes free coffee served and desserts served for a fee.
∫ Linda Lee and the Fox Creek Band — round and square dancing: Pawling Hall, 86 N. Pawling St., Hagaman, 4 p.m. $10 cover.
∫ Line dancing: Sharp Shooters Billiards and Sports Pub, 35 E. Main St., Amsterdam, 7 p.m. All-request dancing after lesson until 10 p.m. $6 cover. Lesson and music provided by Sue Kaupelis.
∫ Montgomery County SPCA fundraiser: Loopie’s Pub, 410 Mohawk Drive, Tribes Hill, 2 to 5 p.m. Soup and chili cook-off. Donations: $10 for adults; $5 for kids.
∫ USS Slater presentation “Battle of the Atlantic”: Gloversville Public Library, West Fulton Street, Gloversville, 1 p.m. The history of this conflict will be explored in a presentation to be delivered by USS Slater volunteer and British expatriate William Trevor. Free and open to the public.
