Complaint leads to warrant arrest

GLOVERSVILLE — Elizabeth R. Dence, 33, of 81 Broad St. Apartment 1, was taken into custody by city police on May 5 on an active arrest warrant.

Officers responded to Dence’s Broad Street address for a disorderly conduct complaint. During the invest

igation police it was learned that Dence had an active arrest warrant that was issued on April 18 in the city for a petit larceny charge.

Dence was transported to the police department for processing, and held for arraignment.

Man taken into custody on warrant

Porter

GLOVERSVILLE – William L. Porter, 43, of 13 Broad St., was taken into custody by city police on an active arrest warrant on May 9 at 1:20 a.m.

Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in which Porter was a passenger. During the course of the stop, officers learned that Porter had an active arrest warrant for third-degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Porter was transported to the station where he was processed and arraigned.

Police: Man charged after striking woman

GLOVERSVILLE – Joshua R. Gifford, 42, of 35 Helwig St., was charged with second-degree assault, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree menacing by city police on May 6.

Gifford was taken into custody following a domestic violence incident. During the investigation, it was alleged that Gifford struck a female victim with a bar stool several times causing physical injury and used a knife to threaten the victim’s life.

Gifford was arrested and held for arraignment.

Gloversville woman charged with DWI

GLOVERSVILLE — Heather M. Ovitt, 35, of 90 Lincoln St., was charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to obey a traffic control device by city police on May 8 at 2:18 a.m.

Following a vehicle stop for a traffic infraction on West Fulton Street, officers determined that Ovitt was driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Ovitt was transported to the station for processing and released with an appearance ticket to return to City Court at a later date.
