Driver charged with hitting barn, fleeing

OPPENHEIM — Troy T. Claus, 20, of 456 Ingrahms Mills Road, Little Falls, was charged by Fulton County sheriff’s deputies on Monday with leaving the scene of a property damage accident, speeding, open container in a motor vehicle, failure to keep right, and uninspected motor vehicle.

Deputies said Claus was the driver of a vehicle involved in an accident involving a crash into a barn at 4:49 a.m. Sunday on Route 29 in the town of Oppenheim. Deputies allege he fled the scene.

He will appear later in Town Court.

Couple charged with food stamp misuse

GLEN — Jeffrey Perritt, 47, and Sheila L. Perritt, 39, of Amsterdam were charged by state police on May 2 with misuse of food stamps for an incident which occurred on April 19. Both were released on appearance tickets.

Man charged with marijuana possession

AMSTERDAM — Deshawn M. Bergh, 27, of Amsterdam was charged by state police on May 3 with fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana and inadequate plate lamp.

Teen faces felony, other charges

GLEN — An unidentified 18-year-old Fultonville teen faces several charges, including felony violation of probation.

State police also charged the male teen with second-degree coercion, second-degree harassment and endangering the welfare of a child.

He was arraigned and released in his recognizance.

14-year-old charged with menacing

JOHNSTOWN — An unidentified 14-year-old from Gloversville was charged by state police on May 3 with second-degree menacing with a weapon. He was released on an appearance ticket.

Man charged with endangering child

DUANESBURG — Devin L. Sylvester, 33, of Amsterdam, was charged by state police with acting in a manner injurious to a child younger than 17.
