Cops: Man sexually abused young child

MAYFIELD — State police at Fonda arrested Gary Freeman, 59, of Mayfield for first-degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child on Sunday

Police said the arrest was the result of an investigation of inappropriate sexual contact between Freeman and a child less than 11 years of age.

According to the news release, Freeman allegedly put his hands down the pants of the child on a few occasions. He’s also alleged to have shown his penis to the child at one point.

Freeman was arraigned in the town of Mayfield Court and he was remanded to the Fulton County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.

He’s due to return to that court in May and police said an investigation is still underway.

Passenger arrested on active warrant

FONDA — Nathan G. Huluska, 32, of 739 Old State Road, Johnstown was charged on April 27 by Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies on an arrest warrant.

Huluska was charged following a traffic stop in Fonda. She was the passenger in the vehicle and had an outstanding warrant from the city of Schenectady.

Huluska was take into custody and turned over to Schenectady City Police Department.

Traffic stop leads to marijuana charge

MINDEN — Toni L. Smith, 35, of 20 Abbot St., Fort Plain, was charged on April 27 by Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies for unlawful possession of marijuana.

Smith was charged following a traffic stop for a speeding violation when the Montgomery County sheriff’s deputy smelled the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle.

Smith was released on appearance tickets to return to town court at a later date.

Man allegedly steals wallet from purse

AMSTERDAM — Zachary S. Leggett, 18, of 154 Guy Park Ave. Apartment 4R, was charged on Saturday by Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies for fourth-degree grand larceny.

Leggett allegedly took a woman’s wallet from a shopping cart at Walmart in Amsterdam on April 10. He was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in town court on May 24.

Man charged with giving false name

AMSTERDAM — Michael C. Hall, 18, of 2 William St., Hagaman, was charged on Monday by Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies on a warrant for false personation.

Hall allegedly gave the name of another person when he was being questioned by a deputy in January 2015, during an investigation.

He was arraigned in town court and remanded to the jail in lieu of $500 cash bail and is scheduled to reappear on Thursday.

Woman charged with intent to sell drugs

NORTHAMPTON — Kayla J. Allen, 26, of 88 Pine View Court, Lake Luzerne, was charged by Fulton County sheriff’s deputies April 4 with felony counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance.

The arrest was made by the sheriff’s Narcotics Unit following an investigation.

Deputies said Allen was allegedly in possession of an unspecified controlled substance with intent to sell.

She was arraigned in Town Court and sent to the Fulton County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.
