Richard Dal Col was named president of health management and provider & network strategy at MVP Health Care this week. 

SCHENECTADY — MVP Health Care has appointed a new executive who will oversee network strategy moving forward.

The Capital Region-based health care provider announced Thursday that Richard Dal Col has been appointed to the position of president of health management and provider & network strategy.

“With decades of experience, Dr. Dal Col is an accomplished health care executive who will bring unique expertise to MVP,” Christopher Del Vecchio, MVP's president and chief executive officer, said in a statement.

Dal Col recently served as the enterprise chief medical officer for EmblemHealth, a role that saw him implement new clinical operations and technologies for the company. He has also spent time at the Capital District Physicians’ Health Plan (CDPHP), where he worked as chief medical officer and senior vice president of medical affairs, and was a senior cardiothoracic surgeon at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, according to a news release.

At MVP, Dal Col will lead efforts to align clinical operations and services across the company’s provider network throughout New York and Vermont.

“His deep understanding of the health care landscape, combined with his passion for leveraging innovative solutions, will enhance our customers’ experiences,” Del Vecchio said. “I am confident that his dedication to advancing patient care and improving health outcomes will accelerate our business transformation and strengthen MVP’s relationships with providers, health care systems, customers, and communities."

MVP Health Care employs more than 1,700 people, including several hundred at its downtown Schenectady headquarters. The nonprofit provides medical benefits for more than 700,000 people throughout New York and Vermont.

Del Vecchio has served as president of MVP Health Care since 2018. A year later, he became president and CEO of the company.

Dal Col holds a doctorate of medicine from Albany Medical College and is board certified in preventative medicine, cardiothoracic surgery and general surgery. He also holds a master’s degree in public health from the University at Albany and a bachelor's of science degree from LeMoyne College.
