St. Johnsville plans beer, wine festival

Will take place Saturday, 1 to 4 p.m.

ST. JOHNSVILLE — A unique take on a beer and wine festival is scheduled to take place in the small town on Sept. 8.

The first Erie Canal Beer and Wine Festival located at 44 Bridge St., will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Attendees will get the opportunity to taste approximately 100 different samples of beer, wine, mead, and cider all while enjoying the scenic beauty along the Erie Canal.

Chris Arduini, one of the directors of the event said this festival stands out from others because not only will distributors be there, but the brewers and wineries who make the products will be there for attendees to meet as well.

Arduini noted that the farm brewers who will be there does not mean they actually brew on a farm. He said it just means they use New York state ingredients.

“That’s also unique compared to other festivals,” Arduini said.

Costs of tickets are $40 and VIP tickets are $60. Tickets can be bought at

VIP tickets will give guests the opportunity to attend the tasting event an hour early to give them extra time before the rest of the guests arrive.

There will also be a designated driver ticket for $10. Everyone at the event will get souvenir glass that says Erie Canal Beer and Wine Festival on them.

All throughout the event, guests will also get to enjoy live music and food truck vendors. There will also be homebrew supplies for people who are interested in trying to brew at their homes.

“Our goal is to increase tourism and customer base in St. Johnsville and increase customer base at breweries and wineries in St. Johnsville,” Arduini said.

He said for the first of its event he hopes the turnout is good especially since it is in a small town.
