GLOVERSVILLE — The third and final Twilight Market of the season will be held Friday night at the Farmers Market Pavilion for one more night of summer fun.

The Twilight Market is a three-part summer series of events held on the second Friday of each month from July through September with vendors, prepared food, family-friendly activities and live music.

The markets are normally held in the heart of downtown, but event organizer and Downtown Development Specialist Jennifer Jennings said the decision to move the final Twilight Market of the season to the Farmers Market Pavilion was made due to a volatile forecast that earlier in the week called for rain Friday.

“We wanted to be proactive,” Jennings said Wednesday. “We don’t want to lose any customers, but we want to make sure that the market is as enjoyable as possible if we have any rain.”

Jennings said she has been working with the market’s full host of vendors and participants to ensure things run smoothly on Friday and there will be signs downtown directing residents to the pavilion who might not have heard about the change in venue.

“We have a full contingent, it’s going to be really alive and full of action, so we encourage everyone to come down to the pavilion,” Jennings said.

The theme for this month’s market is fresh start, a chance to say farewell to summer and hello to autumn and going back to school.

“It’s one last chance to do something fun at the end of the summer,” Jennings said.

This month’s market will feature new and returning vendors including Buddy Balms, Denique Vintage Designs, Euro Delicacies, Leaning Tree Designs, The Leader-Herald, Slate Valley Farms, Stump City Brewing and Vashti’s Kitchen Delights. Live music will be performed by Cosby Gibson and Bill Ackerbauer.

Several community organizations will also participate including Chamber Music at the Chamber, the Family Counseling Center, the Fulton County Museum, the Gloversville Artist in Residence, the Gloversville Public Library, the Gloversville Senior Center and the Glove Theatre.

As the second Twilight Market season draws to a close, Jennings said she’s enjoyed watching community members connecting with one another, with vendors and with their city.

“The market’s whole goal has been to build community around an event, not just with neighbors, but with vendors who are present as well,” Jennings said. “I love seeing the families out and I love seeing how excited kids get.”

Jennings said this market season has been successful and the markets should be returning to downtown again next year for a third summer.

“We’re starting to build a base of customers and community members who look forward to the event every summer,” she said.

Whether Friday’s forecast features sun or autumnal showers, Jennings said the Twilight Market is sure to be full of family friendly fun.

The Fresh Start Twilight Market will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Farmers Market Pavilion located between Elm and Bleecker streets. For more information on the Twilight Markets and other downtown events visit or find the event on Facebook at Downtown Gloversville Twilight Market.
