The Eddie slated for Saturday

In memory of Eddie Lakata, supports JHS scholarships

GLOVERSVILLE, — The Eddie Music Festival will be hosting its sixth annual event on Saturday at the Concordia Club from noon to 10 p.m.

The Eddie is an annual music festival held in remembrance of the late Ed Lakata, who passed away in 2013 in a cycling accident. Eddie was a local musician and a fixture in the upstate New York music scene for more than 30 years. The festival features local and regional musicians across two stages, with professional sound and lighting provided.

This year’s festival performers include Rough & Real, The Shakedown, No Limit, Skyler’s Dream Team, Lakata 2000, That 80s Band, Our Secret Love Society, Skeeter Creek (acoustic), MaddHaus, Doc Orloff’s Blues Elixir, Dave Porter, Von Rudder, The Benefit Band, Big Edna and Orange Velour.

All proceeds from The Eddie Music Festival benefit the Edward Lakata Memorial Scholarship Fund. This scholarship is awarded annually to Johnstown High School seniors pursuing careers in math, science and the performing arts — all of which were Eddie’s passions. Past scholarship winners include Nakia Sweetman, Kaitlyn Duesler, Tyler Lawyer, Rachel Hansen, Ciara Solby, Zachary Morton, Michael Brown, Chelsea Cirillo, Ashley Ruehle and Madison Collins. A total of $10,000 has been awarded since 2014.
