Thousands lose power after substation issue
MOHAWK – Power was out for thousands in Fulton and Montgomery counties following a problem with a substation on Stoner Trail Road in Montgomery County.
In Fulton County, the outage affected the Route 67 corridor and into the city of Johnstown, as well as Routes 142 and 142A near Fulton-Montgomery Community College, accoring to Fulton Country Civil Defense and Fire Coordinator Steven Santa Maria.
National Grid spokesman Nate Stone said power was out for about 4,500 National Grid customers in the area.
They included: 599 in the city of Johnstown; 3,617 in Montgomery County; and 268 in the town of Johnstown.
Stone said he wasn’t sure of the reason for the substation malfunction. But he said late this morning that crews were on the way to resolve the problem, although he wasn’t sure when power would be restored.
