Man arrested for alleged assault
MAYFIELD — A 25-year-old man spent Christmas in jail after allegedly leaving bruises on his four-year-old son Christmas Eve, then attempted to strangle his wife when she went to go visit relatives on Christmas.
State police said Chris Beougher, of Mayfield, was charged following a couple of domestic incidents that occurred at his residence during Sunday evening and Christmas morning.
Police said that on Christmas Eve, Beougher allegedly struck his child on the buttocks causing bruising which was noticed by his wife later that evening.
On Monday morning, the child was complaining his buttocks still hurt. The boy’s mother was preparing to take their three children to their grandmother’s residence when a verbal argument between Beougher and his wife ensued. The arguement turned physical with Beougher grabbing her by the neck and forcing her against the wall and then to the floor.
When she threatened to call police, he swatted the phone from her hand.
The victim was able to escape the residence with the three children when a relative arrived.
Beougher was arrested for third-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child for the incident on Sunday, and was additionally charged with third-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal mischief and endangering the welfare of his three children for the incident that occurred in front of them on Monday.
He was arraigned in the town of Mayfield Court and remanded to the Fulton County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail.
