Council readies for 2018

Approves payroll company, training

GLOVERSVILLE –The Common Council approved a resolution during Tuesday’s meeting to hire a North Carolina company to handle payroll systems for the city.

Logic Solutions of Raleigh, N.C. was hired at a rate of $12,100, a cost of $760 per month.

According to the resolution, the payroll system used by the city is no longer supported and new reporting requirements were implemented by the state’s Retirement System starting on April 1.

∫ The council approved a resolution authorizing the commissioner of finance to execute a budget modification relating to reimbursement checks from the county’s police Stop DWI patrols.

The department received checks totaling $2,879 for STOP DWI Patrols.

∫ Another approved resolution saw the city police department enter into another year of a contract with a city management service to provide training and management for school crossing guards.

The new contract will see All City Management Services of Santa Fe Springs, Calif., retained as the contractor for this program again.

The new term will run from Jan. 1, 2018 to Dec. 31, 2018.

Police Chief Marc Porter said there was an increase in the cost due to a minimum wage increase.

Porter said the cost, however, came in under what it was budgeted for in the 2018 budget. He said the budgeted amount was $46,000, while the cost came to $44,453.

“It will keep us in compliance with all the mandatory updates in minimum wage and split shifts that they work,” Porter said.
