PALATINE — A Palatine man is accused of allegedly raping a woman and then fleeing her residence afterwards.

State police at Fonda arrested Frederick L. Cleveland, 38, of Palatine, for first-degree rape, third-degree aggravated sexual abuse and unlawful imprisonment following the Tuesday incident that occurred at a woman’s home in the town of Palatine during the early morning hours.

Police said Cleveland allegedly held the woman down against her will and then forcibly raped her before fleeing from the woman’s residence.

He was located by state police and taken to the Fonda Barracks where he was interviewed and subsequently arrested.

He was arraigned before the town of Palatine Court and remanded to the Montgomery County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail.

Cleveland is scheduled to reappear in court on Nov. 14.
