Broadalbin seniors to meet on Jan. 9

BROADALBIN — The Broadalbin Senior Citizens met on Wednesday, at the First Presbyterian Church, Broadalbin, with 38 members present and two guests. The prayer was offered by Chaplain Marsha Prokop and Toni Hallenbeck led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.

After lunch, the meeting was called to order by Hallenbeck, president, who did the roll call. Linda Gray read the secretary’s report. Jennifer Gilston gave the treasures’s report. Carol Cramer announced the birthdays for December and members sang “Happy Birthday.”

Judy Rosenzweig, program committee, reminded members this was the last day to sign up for the pizza party to be held Jan. 9, after the meeting. Anyone who was not at this meeting who wants to sign up is to call Rosenzweig at (518) 725-5873 as soon as possible.

The guests were the Broadalbin-Perth High School choir, who under the direction of Jim McGarvey, gave a performance of Christmas songs. The seniors hosted a cookies and punch reception after.

The members who made the “goodies” were Charlotte Santo, Janet Glenn, Karen Marion, Carol Brittain, Lucy Spencer, Edie DiCaprio, Gee Gee Lafferty and Sara Schopmeier. The Christmas committee consisted of Brittain and Joan Burden.

Instead of grab bags, the seniors donated toys to the Broadalbin Ecumenical Church Food Pantry.

Donations were collected for the Broadalbin Ecumenical Church Food Pantry.

The 50-50 winner was Dennis Jacobs.

The next meeting will be Jan. 9, at the First Presbyterian Church. Anyone who wants a meal offered by the Office for the Aging, call (518) 736-5650 by 9 a.m. day of the meeting.

The trip committee announced reservations are now being taken for the Nov. 2 to 11 Splendid Sicilia featuring Palermo, Siracusa and Taormina. There will be a presentation on this trip after Feb. 20 meeting.
