Sign up for pizza party by Dec. 12

BROADALBIN — The Broadalbin Senior Citizens met on Nov. 14, at the First Presbyterian Church in Broadalbin with 46 members present. The prayer was offered by Chaplain Marsha Prokop and June Zea led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. After lunch, the meeting was called to order by President Toni Hallenbeck, who also did the roll call. Nancy Weiss read the secretary’s report. Jennifer Gilston gave the treasurers’s report.

Sunshine committee: Charlotte Santo reported she sent out one get well card and one thinking of you card. Marilyn Quinn announced the birthdays for November and the members sang “Happy Birthday.”

Program committee: Judy Rosenzweig announced there will be a happy New Year pizza party on Jan. 9, 2019. Members must sign up by the Dec. 12, meeting in order to attend. Members can see Karen Bogusz or Rosenzweig to sign up and payment is due at this time.

Christmas committee: Carol Brittain noted the signup for the Dec. 6, Christmas party at the Bridge walk at Perthshire has ended.

Trip committee: Hallenbeck gave a report on the upcoming trips that the Johnstown Seniors are offering.

The donations were collected for the Broadalbin Ecumenical Church Food Pantry.

The 50-50 winner was Nora Olander.

The guest speakers were Nan Ranson and Margaret Brodie, diabetic educators, from St. Mary’s Hospital. They gave a presentation about risk factors and the prevention and controlling of this disease.

The next meeting will be held Wednesday, at the First Presbyterian Church.

The trip committee announced the reservations are now taken for the following 2019 trips.

May 2: A bus trip to Proctors to see Phantom of the Opera

Nov. 2 to 11: Splendid Sicilia featuring Palermo, Siracusa and Taormina.
