JOHNSTOWN — Sandra Maceyka of Johnstown was awarded the Equality Award by the Elizabeth Cady Stanton Hometown Association during the association’s celebration of Women’s Equality Day garden party on Aug. 27.

Maceyka was instrumental in starting the Elizabeth Cady Stanton Hometown Association and serves on the boards of the Schine Memorial Hall, Fulton County YMCA, Lexington Center, Fulton-Montgomery County Community College Foundation, the Elizabeth Cady Stanton Women’s Consortium, and the American Association of University Women.

Proceeds from the event benefited the work of the ECSHA, which includes the Sunflower Shoppe on Main Street, a shop that assists women returning to the workforce with their career clothing needs. ECSHA also sponsors Elizabeth and Eileen’s Prom Dress Closet, in addition to the “Walk in the Footsteps of Elizabeth Cady Stanton” cellphone tour, which tells the story of Elizabeth Cady Stanton and her relationship to local sites.
