Not Just For Kids storytelling Sunday

FORT HUNTER — Storyteller Andy Offutt Irwin will perform at Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site on Sunday at 6 p.m. as part of the annual Not Just for Kids Storytelling series.

His performance titled “Love and Armadillo Migration: An Octogenarian Love Story with Armadillos, Honey Bees and Some World Class Whistling” will take place outdoors near the Schoharie Crossing visitor center. The show will move indoors in case of rain. Guests are invited to linger, chat and enjoy refreshments after the show. The event is free.

With a Silly-Putty voice, hilarious heart-filled stories, and amazing mouth noises (arguably the greatest whistler in the world), one-person-showman, Andy Offutt Irwin is equal parts mischievous school boy and the Marx Brothers, peppered with a touch of the Southern balladeer, according to a news release. He has been a featured teller at National Storytelling Festival nine times.

The Not Just for Kids Storytelling series continues throughout August and into September. The following artists will be part of the series: Claire Nolan, Aug. 19; Anne Shimojima, Aug. 26; and Nancy Marie Payne, Sept. 9.
