Library summer programs to start

NORTHVILLE — The Northville Public Library has scheduled nine summer programs, starting Saturday.

Two New York State Council on the Arts book discussions will be held as follows: “Ninth Hour” by Alice McDermott on Tuesday at 7 p.m. and “Exit West” by Mohsin Hamid on Aug. 14 at 7 p.m.

Songwriter Brian Chevalier will lead “Adirondack Song” on July 19 at 7 p.m. (a free ticket is required for attending), and nature photographer Gerry Lemmo will narrate “Yellowstone: an American Safari” on July 24 at 7 p.m.

Children and their families can take advantage of music with “Take a Tromp Through the Swamp” on July 31 at 6:30 p.m. and “Wild Music: Animal Songs and Calls” on Aug. 1 at 1 p.m. The annual garden party with books and ice cream will be held on Aug. 7 at 1 p.m.

Three local authors from the anthology “Before They were Our Mothers” will present stories passed down from their mothers on Aug. 7 at 7 p.m.

Finally, local artist Linda Finch will discuss the research she completed for her current work, a triptych series of large paintings depicting the historic Sacandaga Park, on Aug. 28 at 7 p.m.
