Concert in honor of Bernstein’s 100th

MAYFIELD – In honor of Leonard Bernstein’s 100th birthday, the Gloversville Community Music will be presenting “Echoes of Bernstein” at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Mayfield Central Presbyterian Church. The concert will feature the Glove City Winds and Community Winds, according to a news release.

The program will include selections from “West Side Story.” The concert will also feature works by George Gershwin and Aaron Copland, the news release stated.

The tickets will be on sale the week of the concert at the Mohawk Harvest Cooperative Market and Gloversville Community Music for $6. They will be available the day of the concert at the door for $8. Both ensembles are directed by Joshua Thompson. Jacob LaBate, a sophomore music education major from the Crane School of Music, will be the guest conducting the Community Winds for Randall Standridge’s Metrodance, the news release stated.
