Memorial Day parade details
GLOVERSVILLE — The Gloversville Parade Committee announced the annual Gloversville Memorial Day parade and services will be held on May 28. The parade will begin at 9:30 a.m., according to a news release.
Again this year, the line of march will be from Sixth Avenue and North Main Street, east on Sixth Avenue to Kingsboro Avenue, south on Kingsboro to Fulton Street, then west on Fulton to the main entrance of Prospect Hill Cemetery where it will be disband. At the completion of the parade, a memorial service and the placement of wreaths, will take place at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument in the cemetery, the news release stated.
For close to 80 years, the Gloversville Memorial Day parade has been an event for the community and for many people who attend from outside the city. Thousands of people line the parade route to support and honor those who have served and continue to serve this country, the news release stated.
“Participating in the parade is open to all groups and we are always looking for new participants” says Michael Perrella, chairman of the parade committee. “Any group who wants to take part in the parade and have not been contacted by the parade committee, can call Perrella at (518) 725-3093, the news release stated.
