Pancake dinner slated for Tuesday

BROADALBIN — The First Presbyterian Church, 54 W. Main St., in preparation for the season of Lent, a Shrove Tuesday pancake dinner is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday. The public is welcome to attend. There is no ticket charge, but a free will offering will be taken with proceeds earmarked for Farm Bundle through the Presbyterian Mission Agency. The Farm Bundle mission was chosen by the Sunday school students.

The menu will include homemade pancakes with syrup and other toppings, bacon, sausage and beverages. Marty and Lisa Stewart are coordinating the event with the help of volunteers.

Shrove Tuesday is always the day before Ash Wednesday. The word shrove comes from the word shrive meaning to confess.

The Ash Wednesday service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church and members of the community are invited to attend for the imposition of ashes.

All proceeds from the dinner will be donated to Farm Bundle and will be matched by the church’s Swears Fund. The money raised will provide people in need with a sustainable source of income and nourishment. The Farm Bundle includes chickens, goats, and other livestock, as well as seeds, tools, and training to help support successful farming.
