Maple Festival set for March 17
SPECULATOR — The Maple Day Festival starts with a pancake breakfast with maple syrup at The Inn at Speculator from 8 to 11 a.m. March 17. Donations benefit will the Fourth of July Parade.
From there, participants can tour area sugar houses using maps available at the breakfast, the Chamber of Commerce and Lake Pleasant Library. Each producer does sugaring a little differently, so each is informative.
Lake Pleasant Public Library will be the site of a 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. craft fair, sponsored by the Historical Society of Lake Pleasant and Speculator, and a maple bake sale supporting the parade.
Teams can bowl at Irish Road Bowling at noon, sponsored by the Speculator Lions Club. Information and signup are available at the chamber.
Oak Mountain will hold a Pond-Skimming competition from 1 to 2 p.m. The Old Main will perform at the Acorn Pub from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.
St. Patrick’s Day celebrations will be held at the following restaurants:
∫ The Inn at Speculator will serve corned beef and cabbage from 5 to 9 p.m., followed by drink specials and music with DJ ADKaraoke at 9 p.m.
∫ Oxbow Inn is also serving corned beef and cabbage from 5 to 9 p.m., followed by live music with Luke and Mike, starting about 9 p.m.
