Free social security retirement planning
HERKIMER — The Frank J. Basloe Public Library will host a free Social Security retirement information program on Feb. 7, at 6 p.m. for pre-retirees wanting to know how to make a more informed claiming decision.
Topics include the following:
∫ When is the best time to collect benefits?
∫ How much money can one earn before being penalized?
∫ What do the “New Rules” mean for those born after Jan. 1, 1954?
∫ Understanding the differences between worker, spousal and survivor benefits?
∫ Where can people get help with their claiming decision?
The one-hour session titled, “Planning Your Social Security Retirement Income Strategy” is being offered as a public service by John N. Kalil Jr., financial coach and president of Retirement Solutions.
