Swanger to be honored
JOHNSTOWN — Dustin Swanger, retiring Fulton-Montgomery Community College president, will be honored at a meeting of the Fulton County Democratic Committee at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, in the FMCC Allen House, Democratic Committee chairman Ed Jacewicz has announced.
Swanger will receive the committee’s inaugural Community Champion award, as well as recognition from a to-be-named state elected official.
After the ceremony, Swanger will comments on the college’s accomplishments during his tenure as president. He will also discuss a proposed new State University of New York funding formula and what it means for institutions like FMCC.
“In his years of service, Dr. Swanger has not only brought tremendous improvements to our area’s community college, he has had a transformational impact on the Fulton-Montgomery Region itself. We could think of no honoree more deserving of this recognition.” said Jacewicz, who also serves on the board of trustees at the college.
The public is welcome to attend the ceremony and remarks by Swanger. Democrats are encouraged to stay for the regular committee meeting and learn about the calendar of events the committee is planning in 2019.
