The Saunders Family to perform at Sherman’s
CAROGA LAKE — The Saunders family will be among the performers at 8 p.m. on Aug. 18, at Sherman’s on Caroga Lake.
The Saunders family history goes back many years on Canada Lake and is actively continuing, according to a news release. The three sons, Robert, Geoff and Richard, now grown, became professional musicians with prestigious bands. Older family members are heavily involved in efforts to maintain the beauty and serenity of the southern Adirondacks. The parents were music teachers, so their sons became musically active when young.
For years, they’ve held family jam concerts at their lakefront camp. Now, for the first time, they’ll perform in public for the Caroga Lake Music Festival on Aug. 18, along with other groups: Durey Creek, Nashville songwriters Kate Lee and Forrest O’Connor; the Crooked North from Rochester; and Caroga Chamber Players.
Geoff Saunders is bassist for the three-time Grammy-winning bluegrass band, the O’Connor Band.
