Alpin Haus continues to offer kids ski for free program

AMSTERDAM — Alpin Haus, one of the northeast’s largest, family-owned outdoor recreation retailers, is continuing to experience interest in its Kids Ski for Free program, which is designed to introduce children to the lifetime sport of skiing.

The Kids Ski for Free program provides children ages five and under with free use of skis, bindings, and boots for the winter.

Alpin Haus has enrolled more than 550 children in the 2017-18 edition of the program since it returned in August.

Alpin Haus founder Bud Heck pioneered the Kids Ski for Free program with the vision of giving every child the ability to try the sport.

Since its inception in 2014, the initiative has provided nearly 2,000 free seasonal rentals to local children.

“We are proud to continue the tradition of giving children the supplies they need to visit the mountains and create lasting memories which could spark a passion for winter sports,” said Alpin Haus President Andy Heck in a news release. “Whether you’re a longtime enthusiast or want to lease skis to try the sport for the first time, Alpin Haus is committed to helping Capital Region families prepare for the ultimate ski season experience.”

The Kids Ski for Free program is an economical option for young skiers who might outgrow their equipment during the season.

The lease guarantees perfect fit and supplies all winter and requires no purchase. Individuals who register for the Kids Ski for Free program also receive a coupon book containing special promotions at Alpin Haus, including complimentary tune-ups.

Winter sports enthusiasts can also take advantage of similar ski and snowboard lease packages for children over the age of five starting at $99.

Alpin Haus’ ski stores offer equipment by K2, Line, Atomic, Volkl and Nordica, as well as a full line of snowboards, boots and winter apparel.

Interested individuals can register for the Kids Ski for Free program at all Alpin Haus ski shops, including Clifton Park and Amsterdam.
