GFWC offers scholarships

AMSTERDAM — The General Federation of Womens Clubs at The Century Club of Amsterdam has scholarship opportunities for college students entering their junior or senior year in an accredited college in New York state.

There is a $1,000 award given by GFWC-NY to a student who is entering a junior or senior year in an accredited college in New York state. The applications shall be a resident of New York state and a citizen of the United States. All applications are to include a college transcript and a completed entry form. The selection is based upon academic achievement, leadership and financial need. The deadline for submitting the application is Feb. 1.

The Marie P. Booth Scholarship Award is available to a resident of the New York State Federation of Women’s Clubs-Adirondack District entering a junior or senior year in a college in New York state. A completed application form, one letter of recommendation, a note from the applicant and a college transcript are to be forwarded to the CFWC Century Club chairman by March 15, 2018. The Century Club will sponsor one applicant from this area as a finalist in the Adirondack District.

The SHZ Award, in the amount of $1,000 will be available to a junior, senior or graduate college student who is majoring in the field of art or art education and desires to continue professional art training to become an art educator or professional artist. The applicant must be a resident of New York state. The completed application form, letters of recommendation, transcripts, a digital compact disc, slides, photos and other materials for the SHZ Scholarship must be received by the Century Club scholarship chairman by Feb. 1, 2018.

The Century Club will sponsor one applicant from this area as a finalist in each of the above statewide competitions.
