Veteran’s Day service planned at City Hall

GLOVERSVILLE — There will be a Veterans Day service at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Servicemen’s Monument in front of Gloversville City Hall, Frontage Road.

The master of ceremonies will be Joni Wilson.

The program will begin with an invocation given by Envoy Mark Devanney from the Salvation Army followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by the Boy and Girl Scouts from Gloversville.

The Gloversville High School band will play a selection under the direction of John Savage.

Mayor Dayton King will say a few welcoming words.

Bill Rowback will deliver the main address followed by a moment of silence for all deceased veterans.

The wreath laying ceremony will begin with the wreaths being placed at the monument. The wreath bearers are Trenton Sanders, Anthony Bevilacqua and Jacob King.

As the wreaths are being placed, the American Legion Firing Squad is scheduled to fire three volleys followed by Taps played by a member of the high school band. The band will then play the national anthem and the program will conclude with a benediction by Devanney.
