50-Plus Club to host open house Friday
JOHNSTOWN — The Johnstown 50 Plus Club will be hosting an open house at the Senior Center, 109 E. Main Street on Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. This is in conjunction with the Holiday Parade and Colonial Stroll downtown.
The club is inviting people to stop in the center, which will be beautifully decorated for the holiday season prior to the city’s festivities, enjoy a hot cup of coffee or cocoa, a variety of refreshments and entertainment from Bill Ackerbauer and the Doghouse Carpenters, who will be accepting donations for the Citizen’s Band Mid- Summer Concert Series.
The Johnstown Citizens Band is working to organize a series of free public concerts in downtown Johnstown for summer 2018. The concerts are expected to take place over four consecutive Thursday evenings in late July and early August, with a variety of performers from around the Northeast playing rock, jazz, blues, folk and more. Grant funding is being sought, but private donations will be essential for making this program a complete success and the 50 Plus Club is helping to make this possible.
This is also a time for people to come in and find out about all that goes on with the 50 Plus Club and the Senior Center. Their members enjoy all types of activities from playing cards and bingo, to crafting and informative gatherings and luncheons to trips that range from day shopping excursions to multi day stays at the ocean.
There will also be demonstrations from classes that go on at the Center, including Marilyn Batty’s oil painting class, Linda Eastman’s chair caning class, Rebecca Tibbet’s light stretching class and Lixia Siarkowski’s Tai Chi. So make it a fun filled day and come join the 50 Plus Club before heading out to enjoy the City’s Holiday Parade and Colonial Stroll.
