AARP tax aid seeks volunteers

AARP Tax-Aide, the nation’s largest free volunteer-run tax assistance and preparation service is seeking volunteers for the upcoming tax season. Tax-Aide volunteers answer questions, prepare and file returns for low to moderate income taxpayers and seniors from February 1 to April 15 at various sites in the Capital District.   Volunteers of all ages and backgrounds are welcome; you do not need to be an AARP member or retiree to volunteer.  Volunteers receive free tax training. They help customers one-on-one at tax sites.  It is a great way to learn new skills and to be involved in your community. To register as a volunteer for AARP-Tax Aide you can start and register on-line at tinyurl.com/taxaidevolunteer  and select the yellow “Become a Volunteer” box in the center of the page and complete the simple registration form. Signing up does not carry an obligation to volunteer – it will simply allow one of our local representatives to contact you about the program. Or for Schenectady, Montgomery or Fulton Counties contact (Robert Parsons, (518) 371-7729, email rparson1@nycap.rr.com) or call our toll-free number, 1-888-OUR-AARP (1-888-687-2277).
