Simon Will earns Eagle Scout rank

GLOVERSVILLE – Simon Patrick Will, a member of Troop 53 in Mayfield and a junior at Fonda-Fultonville Central School, received scouting’s highest rank at a ceremony held in his honor.

The Eagle Scout ceremony took place June 14 at the Church of the Holy Spirit.

During the ceremony, Simon was presented with a commendation from the village of St. Johnsville, where he completed his Eagle Project.

For this project, Simon repaired, straightened, and replaced gravestones in a vandalized area of the village cemetery populated by Civil War markers. One of the stones was that of his great-great-great grandfather.

Will also received certificates in recognition of his rank advancement from President and Mrs. Obama, past presidents of the United States, Gov. Andrew Cuomo, State Sen. Hugh Farley, and executives of the Boy Scouts of America.

Will is the son of Mark and Charlotte Will of Gloversville.
