College alumni to be part of exhibition at FMCC

JOHNSTOWN – Fulton-Montgomery Community College’s Perrella Gallery will feature the works of 19 artists who are alumni of the college’s Fine Art program.

This year’s Alumni Exhibition is the fourth since the gallery’s inception in 1999 and occurs every five years as part of the gallery’s offerings. The artists that are featured in the exhibition, with graduation years between 1970 and 2015, are working in a wide variety of mediums, including painting, sculpture, photography prints and installation pieces.

Perrella Gallery director Joel Chapin sought out alumni who have made a commitment to continue to produce art. In a news release, he said, “It is rewarding to see the diversity and quality of art made by this group, all of whom had FM as a starting place for their artistic training.”

An opening artists’ reception, which is free and open to the public, will run from 6 to 8 p.m. July 28 at the gallery located at 2805 Route 67.

There will be a performance by the KoriSoron Trio from 8 to 9 p.m, followed by a laser light show, weather permitting.

Light refreshments will also be served.

These events are part of the Second Annual Buck Moon Arts Festival Kick Off that will take run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 11 on the FMCC campus.

The art exhibition will be displayed through Oct. 16.

Gallery hours are from 10 a.m to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday or by appointment.

The Gallery is closed weekends and holidays.
