B-P auditorium named for principal

BROADALBIN – The Broadalbin-Perth High School auditorium has a new name.

During Friday’s graduation, the Broadalbin-Perth Central School District Board of Education dedicated the high school auditorium to the school’s retiring beloved principal, naming the facility the Margaret Robin Blowers Auditorium.

The placard that will be affixed outside the auditorium at BPHS features a smiling Blowers cast in bronze and a tribute to the”longtime principal. “Warm and nurturing, bright and intense, Margaret Robin Blowers was the sun of the Broadalbin-Perth High School for two decades,” the plaque reads. “Her voice greeted students with humor each morning and her happy enthusiasm sent them home on late evenings. She was quick to laugh, eager to help, and skilled in flamboyant presentation . Robin’s passionate dedication to the well-being of students was a constant force for good in our community. Her love for this district, its students, and faculty filled her with seemingly endless energy.”

Blowers was a high school health teacher from 1986-94. She served as a middle school assistant principal and health teacher for two years before being named principal of Broadalbin-Perth High School in 1997. The School Administrators Association of New York State named Blowers the New York State Principal of the Year in 2011.

In addition to honoring Blowers for her work as a leader in education on the state and national level, the plaque praises her for dedication to Broadalbin-Perth.
