Chamber Checks a unique gift idea
The Holiday Shopping Season has begun and now is the time to think about keeping those dollars local.
Online shopping is taking its toll on brick and mortar stores more and more every year, and although online shopping is convenient, we must realize the impact it has on our local economy.
Local retailers support our communities with property taxes, sales tax and the employment of our citizens.
Local businesses and their employees go on to support our other local retailers as well as local charities and organizations, such as little leagues, scouts, PTA’s, volunteer groups, etc.
The dollars spent locally turn over several times within our community, whereas the dollar spent online turns over…well who knows where and how much.
Small Business Saturday is this weekend and the chamber continues to support this great event which supports our region’s small businesses. This day was started to inspire shoppers to patronize and strengthen our community’s small businesses and if you commit yourself to shopping locally, why not do it with the convenience of Chamber Checks.
Since Chamber Checks are accepted in a wide variety of businesses in our region, they simplify the task of shopping for that “difficult to buy for” person or anyone on your holiday list, plus offer so many choices for the recipient … while at the same time supporting our local businesses.
Chamber Checks are also a great way for any business, large or small, to show your appreciation for your employees. With their great versatility, companies more and more are choosing Chamber Checks over the traditional holiday turkey or single store gift cards when giving to their employees.
We can package and deliver any number of checks in any denomination that are pre-ordered, contact the Chamber for details. As well contact us if you are a chamber member and would like to be listed as a business that redeems Chamber Checks.
The list for the 2017 Holiday Season is already set; the next list will be updated in April of next year.
To purchase Chamber Checks, visit either Chamber office, 2 N. Main St. in Gloversville or 1166 Riverfront Center in Amsterdam; Ruby and Quiri, 307 N. Comrie Ave. in Johnstown; or the regional branches of Kinderhook Bank in Johnstown, Amsterdam or Canajoharie.
You can get Chamber Checks in any denomination at the Chamber’s Gloversville office. At the other purchasing outlets, you can buy them in $5, $10, $20 or $25 denominations. Regardless of denomination, each Chamber Check comes a list of redeeming merchants in a gift envelope.
You can also view the list of participating businesses on our website at www.fultonmontgomeryny.org.
The chamber wants to especially thank Kinderhook Bank as our sponsoring corporate partner with the Chamber in this shop local program.
Remember, keep your dollars local and make shopping a breeze with Chamber Checks this holiday season, and all year round.
