Perth native hired at research firm

PERTH – Town native, John Orlowski was recently hired as an extension soybean agronomist for the Delta Research and extension center, according to a news release.

According to the release, Orlowski attended Cornell University where he earned his undergraduate in agricultural sciences and his masters in agronomy. He then was an intern with the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service in Beijing, China. After that, he attended the University of Kentucky where he received his Ph.D. in crop science.

According to the release, Orlowski’s Extension program will build on his continuing research in soybeans with an emphasis on row spacing, seeding rates and management verification.

“Considering where the soybean market is now, high-input system may not be the way to go for local producers. Just stay with the basics and do what you know will give you the best return on your investment.” stated Orlowski in the news release.
