Joint senior picnic slated for Tuesday

LASSELLSVILLE — The Western Fulton County Seniors meeting of Aug. 13, was called to order by President Angela Hill, with the Pledge of Allegiance and the recitation of “The Lord’s Prayer.” The reports of the secretary and treasurer were read and passed with all in favor. It was noted that a donation was received from the Ephratah Rod and Gun Club.

Daphne Sydow, a case worker at the Fulton County Office for the Aging, gave an informational discussion on the current Medicare issues and answered all questions regarding their services.

On July 20, the seniors were treated by the Oppenheim and Stratford Seniors, who hosted a chicken barbecue. The group will reciprocate their hospitality with an Italian luncheon on Nov. 29, with a snow date of Dec. 7 at noon.

Tuesday will be the annual joint picnic with the Mayfield Bannertown Seniors at the Glenn Harris pavillion, Caroga Lake, rain or shine.

On Nov. 20, the club will have a Thanksgiving homemade pie sale at the Lassellsville facility. For more information and to reserve a pie, call Hill.

On Dec. 5, a 5 to 6 hour driver’s course will be held at the senior center. Call Angela Hill at (518) 993-5357 for a necessary pre-signup.

The insulation-siding along the bottom of the building and water pipe insulation will be installed before the cold weather to prevent water freezing at the building.

The winner of the 50-50 raffle was Barb Kravec, who donated the proceeds back to the club. The winners of the other raffles were Elaine Wormuth and Pete Stearns.

The next regular meeting will be held on Sept. 10. A semi-monthly get-together will be held starting at 10 a.m. Aug. 27, for those who want to just visit or play games. Anyone interested in attending the regular second Monday monthly at noon potluck lunch and meeting is welcome at the Lassellsville Center, 5740 Route 29W. For information on the club and its activities, call Hill at (518) 993-5357.
